About StatTalk.Org

Let's talk statistics... is a blogging platform for statisticians promoting statistical learning in an informal way. It contains (or will contain) discussions on statistics and data analysis techniques applied to scientific, industrial or societal problems. Although it is a blogging platform, statisticians here would share their thoughts and ideas from their experiences, engage in discussion on various issues that are prevalent in academic and industrial settings, write informal reviews on published articles or books, provide suggestions or solutions to queries on SAS, R/Splus and other statistical packages.

Objective
The primary objective is to produce high quality content relevant to statistics that are beneficial to our students and foster statistical learning in a not-so-academic-way. It will also help us connected to each other through discussion on topics that are common to all of us.

Who should join StatTalk.Org

First and foremost, those who are in their graduate or postgraduate level of studies in statistics. Secondly, those who are (or will be) applying statistics in industries. Experienced and established statisticians working in academics and industries are always welcome to join and augment us with their experiences.

Why should you join StatTalk.Org

That's a good question and I do not have an answer to it at this moment but I would refer to the objective stated above. If you think you can contribute then you are welcome to join us. Even if you think you are too busy to contribute here you can still encourage us by showing your support.

The Idea
It's been a while since this idea came into existence after discussion with Ehsan Karim and Azaz Bin Sharif, but I was not quite sure about how or when this site should launch. Initially we thought of a forum but that was not very successful. Later I was inspired by the UCLA StatTalk blog and some other blogs maintained by renowned statisticians. Finally, a preliminary version is here for you to taste and test.

With the participation of our friends and colleagues, we hope to make StatTalk.Org a meeting place for whom statistics matters!
